We have been fitting salt chlorinators in the Algarve for over fifteen years. Salt goes into the pool water once, at a low concentration of 3 to 5 grams per litre, and the system produces chlorine from it continuously. No bottles, no granules, no manual dosing. The water feels noticeably softer, there is no chlorine smell, and the salt recycles itself so it only needs topping up occasionally. We supply Sugar Valley, a Spanish manufacturer whose Hidrolife range has proved reliable across a great many installations in the region.

The Hidrolife uses a titanium electrolysis cell with automatic polarity reversal that prevents calcium scale from building up. The cells last well in Algarve conditions where the water is not excessively hard. Sugar Valley also offer add-on modules for automatic pH control and temperature monitoring, with remote access through the Vistapool app.
We size the output to match each pool, accounting for direct sun exposure and summer usage. July and August push chlorine demand considerably higher than the rest of the year, and a unit that is marginal on paper will not cope during the months it matters most.
Supply and Installation
A pool that is currently dosed by hand can be converted in a single visit, with no changes to existing filtration or pipework. We handle the full installation: cell, control unit, and pH dosing if needed. Once running, the system largely looks after itself. We check the cell and recalibrate sensors on each of our regular maintenance visits.
